A shoutout today to a McDonald County High School student who’s giving back to kids in his former school. MCHS Sophomore Sam Brewer set up a book fair for the students at Noel Elementary. The event was part of his service project for membership in the National Honor Society. Sam reached out for donations of books from teachers and friends. He received enough to give every student in Noel Elementary two books! He even had a stamp with his project name on it! Great job, Sam. Way to make a difference!
White Rock science teacher Keith Jones is in the limelight! He's being featured on local media because he's the Missouri Conservation Educator of the Year! The award is being given to Jones by the Conservation Federation of Missouri. According to the CFM website: "Keith has a strong connection to conservation and sportsmen ethics and he regularly gives the students a habitat-based approach to his lessons. Keith also utilizes MDC’s Discover Nature Schools curriculum and instructs his classrooms with a more in-depth view of Missouri’s aquatic life, food webs, watersheds, and the chemistry behind our water quality and pollutants. Mr. Jones introduces students to their local state parks, Roaring River and Big Sugar, with investigative outdoor lab studies of plants, birds, and so much more. Projects like these are common with Mr. Jones’ gifted student program. Initiated a few years ago, the SOPE Program, named after the combined words of “success” and “hope,” takes students into nature one week of each month."
Great job Mr Jones! An excellent example of how teachers in McDonald County Schools make a difference in every child, every day, whatever it takes! Congratulations!
We’re shining the spotlight on some of our Junior High band members from several different McDonald County Schools. The musicians in this group were selected for the all-district honor band and performed at the all-district concert recently at Carl Junction. Congratulations and great job!

A big "Thank You!" to our friends from Samaritan's Feet and Village Bible Church in Bella Vista, AR. They teamed up Saturday morning to provide new shoes, socks and treats for several families from McDonald County Schools. And they are donating hundreds more shoes and socks to meet the various needs in each of our campuses. The McDonald County School’s Board of Education will be holding its regular monthly meeting this Thursday, February 10, at 6:30 pm at the District Office at 10 Stampede Drive, Anderson, MO.
A public comment section will be offered at the beginning of the meeting.
All people wishing to address the Board during the public comment section will need to adhere to the following guidelines:
The topic must be an item on the current agenda.
The speaker must sign up by completing a request form at the District Office no later than 12:00 pm on Thursday, February 10.
No individual will be permitted to speak more than once during this period.
There is a 3-minute time limit per individual speaker.
Following the meeting, there will be a closed session as per Section 610.021 (3)(13) RSMo.
