White Rock Elementary School

Dear families and friends of White Rock Elementary,

We are so excited to be able to welcome you back to White Rock for summer school!  We have been working closely with our health department to make sure that we have proper procedures in place to minimize exposure for both our students and staff.  Your child’s safety is very important to us here at White Rock Elementary. We are asking that you adhere to the following guidelines to assist us in keeping our students safe.

  • Doors will open each morning at 7:40 a.m. - Please do not drop your child off at school prior to 7:40 a.m., as we are unable to provide supervision until the doors open.

  • No visitors will be allowed in the building during summer school. This includes walking your child to classrooms and coming to school to eat lunch with your child

  • Students who do not ride a bus must be either a car rider or walker.  Please do not wait under the awning, in the entryway, or on the sidewalk for school to be dismissed. Parents and siblings will need to remain in their cars; we cannot have walk-up pick-up at dismissal time.  I apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.

  • Students must ride the same bus both morning and night.

Some of our daily safety precautions include:

  • Social distancing will be practiced to ensure adequate physical separation is maintained.

  • Handwashing and infection prevention instruction will be  taught to students.

  • Students and staff will wash their hands regularly throughout the day.  Students will be reminded not to touch their face.

  • Meals will be served in classrooms.

  • Students will interact within a cohort of grade level peers.

  • Student face coverings are required for all grade levels while riding the bus.

  • Student face coverings are not required for K-5th grades, but certainly may be worn.

  • Student face coverings are required at school for 6-8 grades.

  • Face coverings are required for staff members.

  • We will not be able to have assemblies at this time.

  • Each day our custodial staff will sanitize desks, doorknobs, and other frequently touched surfaces around the building.

I know that this is a challenging time for all of us.  I appreciate your understanding and support of  the additional safety measures we’re putting in place to keep everyone healthy and safe.  See you soon!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Cox, Principal
