New white rock parking lot

Another major milestone completed in district-wide bond improvement projects

A once gravel-covered parking area at White Rock Elementary has been transformed into a newly paved and striped lot — a welcome improvement for teachers and staff.

Crews recently completed the project as part of the $21.5 million bond issue passed by McDonald County voters in 2022. This paving work is one piece of a larger, district-wide effort to improve traffic flow, safety, and facility appearance across McDonald County Schools.

The new lot will provide a smoother and safer experience for those arriving at White Rock Elementary. It will also reduce the amount of dirt, mud, and debris tracked into the building on rainy days — a change teachers and staff are especially celebrating.

The White Rock project is one of several paving improvements happening across the district this summer. Similar work has already been completed at McDonald County High School, and upcoming projects are scheduled for:

  • Anderson Elementary

  • Southwest City Elementary

  • Mustang Academy

In addition to paving, the 2022 bond has funded six new FEMA-rated storm shelters and multiple renovations at campuses throughout the district.

“These projects reflect our community’s strong support for public education and our shared commitment to giving students and staff the best possible environment in which to learn and grow,” said Superintendent Dr. Eric Findley.

Check back on the McDonald County Schools website and social media for more updates as additional projects are completed this summer.
