Zoe Thornton, Samara Smith, and Eli Jordan have been given the opportunity to register with The Duke University Talent Identification Program (TIP). hese students qualified to register based on superior performance on the 2016 MAP. The Duke TIP program offers a wide array of resources, online magazines, above-level tests in PSAT, online courses, and face-to-face educational programs. Congratulations to these young scholars!
The McDonald County Youth Basketball Association and MCHS staff will host free clinics for grades 3 through 6 to be offered October 24th and 27th at 3 locations. Please fill out the form below.
The McDonald County Youth Basketball Association and MCHS staff will host a 3rd/4th grade league this fall. Players will play 2 weekends in November and 2 weekends in December, each at different locations around the county. The cost is $10 dollars and includes a t-shirt. Tyson Sponsors MCHS FFA Poultry Team in National Contest
Tyson Industries proudly presented the MCHS FFA Poultry Team a check for $4,000 to underwrite their travels to the National FFA Convention where the team will compete for the national title.
Congratulations to Abby Bishop, Mylinda Dryer, Madison Mitchell, and Hannah Sherman, members of the MCHS FFA Poultry Evaluation Team who won first place at the state FFA competition and will now advance to the National FFA contest held in Indianapolis, Indiana this week.
The Poultry Evaluation is one of twenty four Career Development Events (CDE) in the FFA organization. CDE’s have students compete in an array of categories covering job skills in everything from communications to mechanics. The Poultry Evaluation event is a team competition testing students in production, processing, and marketing of chickens, turkeys, processed poultry products and eggs.
US News and World Report Awards MCHS
McDonald County High School was recognized for the fourth year in a row by US News and World Report. The magazine ranked over 20,000 high schools from across all 50 states. MCHS earned a Bronze Medal and recognized in both the national and state rankings. The periodical ranks schools according to student achievement on state mandated testing and on college preparedness.
