Prerequisite: Completion of Algebra 1 with a “C” or better, or completion of Algebra Concepts and Applications with sending teacher recommendation (signature required).
Students will use deductive reasoning and logic in the study of Euclidean geometry concepts beginning with points, lines, and planes and extend through coordinate geometry, parallel and perpendicular lines, triangle relationships, congruence, and similarity, quadrilaterals, and transformations. The course will also include the trigonometric concepts of solving right triangles as well as develop the relationships between two-dimensional and three-dimensional figures including area and volume. Concepts will be developed using the rigor of various forms of proof. This course is designed for students that are proficient in mathematics and wish to attend a 4-year university.
