Prerequisite: Must qualify for ELL program
The course is parallel to traditional English courses, however, facilitated to make the content comprehensible to English language learners. Required for graduation, the course fulfills the one English credit required for graduation and focuses on developing students as better readers, writers, and thinkers. Emphasis is placed on grammar and vocabulary through reading and composition. Reading includes a wide variety of genres. Writing includes, but is not limited to, various types of composition, i.e. paragraphs and research. Students will be encouraged to develop critical thinking skills through class discussion, literacy analysis, and various exercises.
