Prerequisite: English III with a B or above, earn a score of 18 on the ACT in English or a minimum score of 70 on the Compass Test. (This will be a weighted course of study.)
This class fulfills the fourth year of English and focuses on developing superior readers, writers, and thinkers. It emphasizes literacy analysis, grammar, and vocabulary through reading, class discussion, and composition. Reading includes a variety of English literature from a number of different genres. Novels are explored in depth. Writing includes paragraphs, essays, and research. Students are encouraged to develop critical thinking skills through class discussion, literacy analysis, and various exercises and/or projects.
